Cholesteatoma
As the eustachian tube becomes dysfunctional, negative pressure is generated in the middle ear and the eardrum starts to retract inward. An accumulation of dead skin within a retracted pocket of the eardrum can erode adjacent bone and lead to a draining ear and hearing loss. |
