Acoustic Neuroma  ( Vestibular Schwannoma )Acoustic neuroma is a benign tumor that grows in the internal auditory canal and affects the hearing, facial, and balance nerves.

Diagnosis for Acoustic Neuroma

A careful history and review of symptoms can suggest the existence of an acoustic neuroma. An MRI scan of the internal auditory canal is done to confirm the existence of a tumor.  However, the definitive diagnosis cannot be made until the tumor is excised and examined.
