Chondrosarcoma

A chondrosarcoma is a malignant tumor found at the petro-occipital synchondrosis, the joint between the clivus and the petrous bone of the skull.

Diagnosis for Chondrosarcoma

Diagnosis is suspected by MRI scan of the brain, with a study tailored to look at the skull base. These tumors can be quite destructive to the clivus. Diagnosis is confirmed by biopsy and pathologic analysis.
