Complications for Perforated Ear Drum
Complications of a perforated ear drum can include hearing loss due to the interruption of sound, infection, and possible cholesteatoma. The opening in the ear drum gives a medium through which skin from the ear drum can grow back into the middle ear. Skin in the middle ear can cause problems such as infection, hearing loss, facial paralysis, etc.
